Out of this three-piece outfit, one is Mekhela, the bottom portion is draped from the waist downwards while another is Chador tucked into mekhela and draped around the upper portion of body with a third piece top called blouse.

Muga Silk is one of the rarest silks on earth. The colour of the silk is naturally golden. Muga silk is indigenous to the state of Assam and geographically tagged to Assam.

It is most durable silk and said that a mother keeps Muga Silk attire for daughters’ marriage passing a tradition to next generation. Wearing a Muga Silk Mekhela Chador is just like embracing Assamese culture

Handloom effects – All handwoven pieces are unique in a way can be termed as ‘one & only’ as it differs from weaver to weaver. Again, one weavers’ state of mind at the time of weaving leads the beating that shapes the texture of the fabric.

Handloom defects – Handloom Products may have slightly different shading in a single piece due to different thickness of hand reeled yarns and weavers beating techniques. There may be uneven salvage or missing threads due to the nature of hand weaving.
